This guide walks you through everything you need to do as a new merchant to start accepting online payments on Shopify through Live Payments.
Live Payments provides your merchant account and payment processing services, while CyberSource provides the secure payment gateway technology that connects your Shopify checkout to Live Payments.
To accept payments successfully, you will need both a Live Payments merchant account and an activated CyberSource account.
As a new merchant, follow the steps below to get your Shopify store ready to accept online payments.
Before setting up payments, your Shopify store should be ready for launch.
Please ensure that you have:
An active Shopify subscription
Products published and available for sale
Inventory configured
Shipping settings completed
Store currency configured as AUD

Once your store is ready, you can proceed with payment setup.
To accept online payments, you must first register for a Live Payments eCommerce merchant account.
Once your application has been approved, Live Payments will:
Create your merchant profile
Configure your payment processing services
Provision your CyberSource payment credentials
CyberSource is the payment gateway used by Live Payments for Shopify.
When a customer enters their card details during checkout, the CyberSource Payment App securely sends the transaction to Live Payments for processing.
Without an active CyberSource account, Shopify cannot connect to the Live Payments payment platform.
Although Live Payments creates your account, the activation email is sent directly from CyberSource.
Please look for an email from CyberSource in your inbox.
If you cannot find the email, please check your spam or junk folder.

You will receive an activation email similar to the example below.

To activate your account:
Open the activation email.
Click the activation link before it expires.
Create your password.
Complete the account activation process.
Your Organization ID is included in the activation email.
You need this information when logging into CyberSource during the Shopify setup process.
Once your CyberSource account has been activated, you can connect Shopify to Live Payments.
Log in to your Shopify Admin.
Navigate to:
Settings → Payments
Locate CyberSource under Payment Providers.
Select Install.

After selecting Install, Shopify will redirect you to the CyberSource login page.

Sign in using:
Organization ID
Username
Password
created during the activation process.
Follow the prompts to authorise the connection between Shopify and CyberSource.
Once completed successfully, CyberSource will become your active payment provider and your store will be ready to accept online payments through Live Payments.

After selecting Install from Shopify:
Shopify redirects to the CyberSource login page.
You enter the correct Organization ID, Username, and Password.
An error message appears.
Retrying the login process results in the same error.

This issue is commonly caused by an incomplete installation session stored in the browser.
To resolve the issue, completely remove the CyberSource Payment App and start the installation again using a fresh browser session.
From Shopify Admin:
Settings → Payments
Locate the CyberSource Payment App.
Select:
Uninstall
Confirm the uninstall when prompted.

This step is very important.
After uninstalling the application:
Close the browser completely.
Close all Shopify and CyberSource tabs.
Ensure no browser windows remain open.
Reopen your browser.
Return to:
Settings → Payments
Locate CyberSource and select Install again.
Proceed through the installation process using your CyberSource credentials.
In most cases, the installation completes successfully after starting a fresh browser session.
